Who am I

My name is Tim de Hond and I founded Ikigai Technical Management (ITM) to help your company grow from A to Z, using my knowledge and experience.


I have a technical and business education and have been working in the manufacturing & technology industry since 2007. Since 2017, I have been manager of departments active in the engineering and production of technical products. In 2023 I started my own company Ikigai Technical Management.


Ikigai is a Japanese word that has no exact translation. It is what you get out of bed for every day or what is the reason for your (company) existence. I love it when I walk around in a technical environment and can realize growth. This with a group of people who have a shared passion, for example through a product / machine or service that they jointly develop and / or produce.


Ikigai Technical Management is an organization that focuses on supporting companies active in the technology or manufacturing industry. ITM offers this support through interim assignments, where I carry out a defined assignment. As an advisor, I help companies implement changes. This is done by working together with the employees on a clear strategy, clear structure, understandable processes and by putting the right people in the right place. I believe that growth comes from own employees and not from an analysis or report from an advisor. Finally, as a coach I help employees or groups (intervision) to improve or remove obstacles.


During my career I have always enjoyed working on growth within a department or company. From nothing or something very small, building up to something very beautiful. This is my Ikigai (生きがい) or that which I enjoy getting out of bed for. I'm ready to help your business.


What I do

My focus is on supporting organizations, departments and individuals in realizing their ambitions. My support starts with a request for help, growth or change of the organization or the people themselves. Through my expertise and experience I can help organizations, departments and individuals to achieve their goals and realize ambitions.


My method is focused on having (or creating) a clear strategy, clear structure, understandable processes and putting the right people in the right place. Because this ensures effectiveness, productivity and efficiency. These are the crucial aspects that are essential for the success of an organization or person.


Effectiveness is a measure of achieving results. It reflects delivery reliability, the ability to work on the right things and achieving results (goal orientation). The emphasis is on the customer and meeting their needs.

Productivity is the balance between results and effort (or sacrifices you have to make). Productivity is concerned with the behavior of employees and their ability to perform optimally.

Efficiency focuses on optimizing the use of resources (sacrifices). Efficiency provides insight into the performance of tasks, such as speed, working method and quality (doing things correctly). The emphasis is on controlling costs.


My strength is using my knowledge of technology, operational excellence, customer intimacy, commerce, financial insight, lean & agile working.

Experience


At a manufacturer of waste collection solutions, I realized a productivity increase by 10%, in the assembly plant. This has been achieved, among other things, by replacing the line assembly process with cell assembly. I also changed the operational planning in Excel towards planning in ERP, based on available resources and materials.


Operations Management

Both within production environments (After-market & OEM) and in Engineering services. Turnover ranging from

€17mln - €115mln and responsible for 20 - 150+ employees.


Engineering Management

Operating on an international level. Responsible for teams of 6 - 8 employees. From Engineering To Order to Configure To Order.

Projects ranging in size. Smaller 4 phase projects to larger 7 phase projects. Bridge between sales, purchasing, logistics, production and engineering.

Sale of Engineering Software (a.o. CAD, CAM) to technical companies. Winning engineering projects and secondment of technical personnel. Setting up satellite offices for an engineering firm.
